A smooth departure starts with the right terminal. Terminals 1 and 2 have their own forecourts, and a wrong stop wastes time when you have bags. Check the airline, terminal and booking confirmation before the car sets off.
Verify the terminal for your flight
Your travel documents and the airport's current flight information normally give the departure terminal. Operational changes are possible. At Terminal 1, the check-in area or module can provide a more precise destination. Tell your driver the current terminal and, if available, your check-in area rather than simply saying 'Munich Airport'.
Using the departure forecourt
The T1 and T2 forecourts are intended for brief pickup and drop-off. Munich Airport says two stays of up to ten minutes per calendar day can be free; the applicable tariff starts after the free period. A transfer driver should stop only where permitted and move on promptly.
After leaving the car
Walk to the correct check-in or bag-drop area and then security. Children, heavy luggage or reduced mobility call for extra walking time. If you have checked in online and carry only cabin baggage, you may be able to go directly to security; follow your airline's instructions.
Drop-off is different from pickup
Meeting points and waiting terms after landing differ from the departure forecourt. Arrange the return pickup separately rather than applying a pickup guide to your outbound journey.
Frequently asked questions
Can a driver stop at either terminal?
Yes, the forecourts serve brief drop-off and pickup, subject to current airport rules.
Is 'Terminal 1' precise enough?
The check-in area or module from your flight details can make the stop more accurate.
